Rosebuds of Faith Series: Belief or Unbelief...What is Happiness?

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my
heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my
strength, and my Redeemer."
Psalm 19:14

Jesus was sent to this earth to be our Redeemer.
He lived, He died, just for this cause.....to bring
each of us back to our true Love, our One & Only
God. He forgave our sins, and washed each of us
clean with the precious blood He shed for us.

I am home sick today. I cannot talk. Not with my voice,
but I can with my fingers. And I just have to write of
what I witnessed on television this morning.

I was listening to a gentleman on one of the talk shows
earlier, and he was asked the question of why people
are happy, and is it in any way related to their 'religion'
or lack of it? First wrong answer was, today is the winter
solstice, and this truly is what we should be happy about!
Then he proceeded to expound on the fact that we should
all be happy and good based upon who we are. We can
be moral, we can be loving and kind, and we do not need
this 'fairy tale' of religion. A priest gave the other view,
and tried to explain to this poor lost soul why Christians
are happy, and just what kind of happy this is. The man
could not accept that and kept going back to how we are
deluded and not, in his opinion, seeing or living reality.

The priest then talked about the peace that comes from
knowing our Creator, and how in the difficult times,
as well as the good times, we can have hope for the
future, and know that we are not alone in this life.
None of this made a dent in this man's ramblings.

We all know people like this. They think we are
'less than' simply because we know the truth, and
believe in it. They do not understand what we have,
or why we have it. They cannot comprehend a love so
strong that our Saviour would give His life for us.

A recent poll showed that people living in the south
of our nation are happier with where they are living
than folks in other parts of the nation. Again, the credit
for this is that we are in the 'Bible Belt', and when asked
about religion, southerners are more likely to defend their
beliefs, and give Jesus as the cause of their happiness.
Another ha ha from this gentleman. Happiness, to him,
comes only from what you make of your own life, not
from a 'spirit'.

So let us remember what this week represents to us, and
let us also not be afraid to speak up when asked the true
root of our happiness....the Babe who was born in a manger,
and who grew to preach God's word throughout the nations,
and who lived that love among the people....and then gave
His life on Calvary for our sins, only to rise up again as
the Conqueror over death He was proclaimed through the
ages to be.

Yes, Christians are happy, in good times and bad times. We
should be so totally grateful that we have this blessing of
faith and belief in our lives. And we have the witness of
those who have gone before, and the events we ourselves
have witnessed in our own lives, which cannot be explained
by any other means.

Give thanks this day for the great Gift God has given.
Do not hesitate to share it with those we have not received
it. And pray for those who refuse it, as it is not God's wish
that any should perish, but that all should be saved (2 Peter
2:9).

Blessings!
