Happy 4th of July, Overcomers!

'He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.' Revelation 21:7

Today is the 4th of July. This is a day of celebration in our country. For this day was the day we set forth our new nation, a nation of personal freedoms for things such as religion, bearing arms, pursuing happiness, enjoying representation, and assuring limited government. Our founding fathers, while realizing we needed to have a strong government, truly did mean 'by the people, of the people, and for the people', long before Abraham Lincoln actually spoke those words.

These freedoms have been preserved by several things, one of which is by war. We have had many, and have today, who have given their lives for the country they loved. In the past we have had militia's, organized armies, volunteer forces, and the draft. Today we have a completely volunteer defense, something I think many of us forget. No one is forced to go to war. No one is forced into serving. It is something that comes from the heart. It is a true sacrifice, many times in the truest sense of the word.

The most important constant in the preservation of the American way of life is God's presence, and His grace. If you read the passage in 2 Chronicles 7:14, God assures us that He will hear our cries in Heaven, if we repent and turn from our evil ways. He will heal our land. I believe He has been doing that for a long, long time, but the time is coming to an end. God is tired of the things that are going on in His country. Yes, it is truly His, He merely allows us to enjoy it. He wants us to turn to Him, to hit the floor on our knees, and to give up the wickedness that pervades our society. His grace is the only thing that is keeping us free at this time, even with our military.

Let's celebrate today. Let's give thanks to the God in Heaven who loves us, even in our sin, and who gives us opportunity after opportunity to do the right things. And let's give our country, and our people, back into His hand. Because without His hand upon it all, we shall surely perish as a nation of freedom.

Cherish the work that God has done. Honor the military who have stood with and for us time and time again. Learn to be brave yourself, and to take a stand when called upon to do so. Our freedoms should match perfectly to God's will for our lives. Nothing more...nothing less. He is, after all, the ultimate freedom fighter. And He wants to bless us, and our country, with all good things. For through Him we are all overcomers!

Happy 4th of July, and blessings!
