Memorial Day 2017
We have an America that we can be proud of, despite all the social issues, the crime and the financial woes. We have not only our history, but our present, and our future ahead of us. We who believe in the original tenants of the founding fathers will continue to do so. And we will stand for what we believe to be right and good.
We have a military that no other country can rival. Oh, there may be some pomp and circumstance in uniforms and marching that may show us up now and then, but in the things that matter, no. No one can match it. Our men and women in uniform are dedicated, they love their country, and they will die to defend it.
That is why we have Memorial Day. It is the day set aside to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, who went to war or simply to serve and did not return the way they went. Many have never returned, but lie in unmarked graves in countries far away. But the memories remain, the heartaches are still present, along with the great pride in those that have been lost.
In some neighborhoods, and even cities and towns, flying our flag is prohibited or restricted. This is a travesty. Our flag should be flown by whoever wants to fly it, wherever they wish to do so, and on any day, week, month, year they wish to display it. It is our right to do so. People have died for our flag, for all it represents.
I am honored to be a military mom. I will not ever be ashamed of that. I will ever be proud of my two boys, and the freedoms they both have fought for. While none of us like war, and do not ever want to take someone else's life, it is sometimes necessary to preserve our way of life, our very freedoms that make our country a place people want to be.
So today, do like me, and remember those who gave everything for our freedom. They gave because they believed in the cause. I am proud of each and every one of them. And my prayer is that their families understand the honor each man and woman is afforded by Americans who understand that freedom is not free, a price must be paid, and their loved ones who paid it are appreciated and honored forevermore.
In Nehemiah's day, he was distressed because of the damage caused by the fall of Jerusalem. He believed in and loved his home, and he trusted God to restore it. This took faith on his part, to trust God, to ask his king to allow him to travel to Jerusalem to look into the situation, and to take a stand, and encourage others to do so as well, as enemies came against them continually. But the city was rebuilt, the walls were erected, and the people were protected once again. Because God is a gracious God. Always.
Enjoy your Memorial Day. And remember...always remember.
Blessings!

UPDATES!
I wanted to let you know what's been going on with me. I am happy to announce to you that I am now writing regularly for a Christian site called The Bottom Line. I have added links to the main site, and to the sister and brother sites, The Bottom Line Ministries, and Bible About. Both of the later sites are linked to www.thebottomline.co. Since I am writing for them at least 3 times a week, I wanted to make it easy for you to hop over there to take a look at my writing, as well as the other very talented sisters and brothers of mine. We are a family of Christian writers, and I so enjoy them! Our leader is very talented and creative, and has given me so much opportunity. I just feel blessed to my toes!
So when you get a chance, go ahead and hop, and tell your friends about those sites as well. We are currently being read all over the world, and we are so very happy that not only are we reaching Christians with encouragement and love, but we are also sharing in ways that non-believers are able to understand and seek out more information.
I will be posting more regularly on this site as well, so watch for me. Please! I will not disappear again, if I can help it! I have been very busy this past year, and have also had a few health issues, which I am happy to say God has nearly eradicated. He is my blessing, and I wish to be a blessing to Him as well, which is why I continue to write.
My mission trip to Ecuador was a great success, and I will be putting some of those pictures up for you to see. My heart was won by the orphans we ministered to, and I wished I could bring them all back home with me, but 40 kids and 3 dogs...no!
We will be going back next year, as our church has committed to a long term relationship with Word of Life Ministries in Ecuador. Another blessing!
So hop on board with me here, and with my Facebook page, and don't forget to do some more hopping over to The Bottom Line sites. I think you will be glad you hopped!

ECUADOR BOUND
Not that He doesn't already use me! Gracious me, He keeps me rather busy, He does. And I love it. I may get tired, discouraged, and all around down, but He is the One who always shows me what He has done, even when I didn't realize I was a part of it. He is amazing.
I love that place. Truly. It is not only a beautiful country, rich in history, landscape, and culture. But the people...oh, the people! They are beautiful. They are friendly. They need Jesus.
There are many Christians there already, but there are other religions as well. And that is why we are going. We are going for Bible studies, children's Bible School, to spend time with orphaned children, to build a playground, but most of all, to minister to the souls God chooses to put in our path. You see, this is what God has called His people to do...to take the Gospel of Christ to the far ends of the earth.
I am going with a large group from my church, 38 people. We will be with the same missionaries we were with when we went the last time, only there were only 8 of us, and it was a singing mission. This trip promises to be something different for me, something I have never truly experienced, and I am so excited I can't hardly stand it. Give me patience, Jesus!
A couple of other things are different this time. The last trip, we sent letters to family and friends to raise our funds. And of course, most of us were also making payments, and saving up spending money. This time, there will be a couple of small fund raisers.
But my husband and I have decided we are paying for my trip ourselves. We are not sending letters to anyone. We are not finding other ways to raise money. We are simply...trusting God.
My inner self tells me that if God truly wishes me to be on this trip, then He is going to fund it. And the way I am handling it is that I won't be a burden to someone else. Times are tough right now, for alot of folks. But when I make my payments, I am finding God has rearranged our finances in some different way. I can't explain it and I don't need to. It's God. Simply put, it's just Him! And because He has been so gracious to us, my trip is nearly paid for! Hooray!
Over the next couple of months, we will be preparing. The greatest preparation we can do is to pray. Prayer is the answer to everything; it is the beginning, and it should be the end, when we give the praise and thanksgiving, and all the glory, to the God who made it all possible. Whatever the 'it' may be. So we are praying for the trip itself. We pray for the souls and hearts being prepared by a Holy God. We pray for the missionaries, who are preparing for our arrival, and into whose hands God is entrusting us. We pray for our prayer partners, who intercede for us daily. We pray for our families, for the time we are away. And we pray for one another. We all know satan comes against us the most when we are stepping out in faith for something, so you know he hates we are going, that we WANT to go, and what we will be doing once we arrive there.
So this is what I ask of you, whether you know me or not. Whether you understand about mission trips or not. If you are a Christian, I covet your prayers. Pray that I will pray, and that I will pray consistantly. I am already doing this, but you know how life can 'get in the way' of prayer, and Bible Study. Pray that I will keep my eyes on the goal, to serve Him, not myself. Pray for safety, for our entire team, pray good health, and pray for the divine appointments we are anticipating. Most of all, please, please, just pray that God's will be done.
I do not deny that I will enjoy the trip for other reasons. It is an adventure, and the older I get, the more I crave adventure! It is a beautiful place, full of mystery, waterfalls, glorious birds and monkeys...the most beautiful flowers and trees you could ever want to see. I see God's hand in every single thing there. But I see it here as well. He is everywhere. And He expects us to always be on a mission field of some sort...even if it be in our own living room, or at the fence with our neighbor in the back yard. You needn't travel to another country to be a successful missionary. If your heart belongs to Christ, you are one.
I thank you in advance for your prayers, for your good wishes. And be assured I will be providing you with details and pictures upon my return. For what God has done in our lives, we will share His glory with others, and constantly sing songs of praise to Him, and Him alone.
Blessings!

Seasons....
Our lives are not meant to be stagnant, never-changing. Instead they are to be like the seasons, gradually evolving, bringing their own beauty and blessings to maturity.
God uses these seasons ...of our lives to show us His glory, to grow us in spirit and faith, and to give us fresh perspective when we move from one to the other. We will have many beginnings, and many endings. In between, we will experience joys and sorrows, trials and victories. And each time we move on, we will be stronger, more trusting of God, and sensing the purposes He has designed for each of us.
So, no matter which season you are currently living in, search, find, enjoy all the adventure, possibilities, and blessing that awaits you. Even in the midst of difficulties, we will find the good if we will seek Him, trust Him, and live for Him. And with the good, comes wisdom, knowledge, and strength.
Blessings!

He Makes A Way
This line from the song 'Did I Mention', by The McKamey's, just 'hits it' for me. How many times in life have each of us been in situations where we could not see how we would get through? We forget all too often just Who our God is.
No matter the situation, we have survived it, and lived to tell about it. Yes! We are to tell others all about what our faithful, amazing God has done for us. How else can others come to know Him, or trust Him, or ever use their faith? They must hear and see the truth.
God will always show us the way that He has made. Be thankful, and tell Him.
'Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.' (Psalm 119:105)

A MAN REAPS WHAT HE SOWS
Such true words, and such sad words for those who do not understand. And those are not only the unbelievers, but can be God's own as well.
We are assaulted every day by the world view of 'it's all about me'. Believers know this is not truth, because it is truly all about God. He is, after all, the Creator, and every thing is in His dominion.
If we treat others badly, we can expect the same. If we rob, cheat, lie, steal, we will have these things in return. Since this is how many people react, we should not be surprised when God's reaction may be even harsher.
When we minimize God and His Kingship, we are mocking Him. And, yes, believers do it too. There are times when all of us lose our spiritual perspective and end up being just like those who live in and for the world. We play that same game, the 'it's all about me' game, where there are no real winners, but alot of losers.
Until we grasp the fact that God is sovereign, is the absolute King, and is undeniably more powerful than we can even imagine, we will not understand who He really is. His love is endless, but His wrath is terrible. We dare not risk His judgement on us when we stray from His view to the world view, because the price is great. All will pay for mocking Him. Even His very own children.
We can be spared this punishment by recognizing our behavior as the sin it is, repenting of it, and asking His forgiveness. He will never withhold it when our asking is sincere. As His offer of grace to us is from His heart, our acceptance of it must be from ours.
Be careful to not mock the Lord. Rather, worship and adore Him, make and keep Him as the first priority in your life, and honor Him by sowing good seed. Then shall you reap the perfect harvest.
Blessings!

God Cares For Our Hearts
Judging Others
I love to 'people watch'. I like to sit in an out-of-the-way spot, either in a park, the beach, or in a shopping mall. I enjoy simply watching people walk by.
I may wonder if they are married, and if so, are they happy? I like to imagine each person's profession, their hobbies, or, if their faces are wearing frowns, I may envision the circumstances in their lives which cause them.
But I find I mostly wonder about their spiritual condition. Some people wear Jesus on their physical bodies so that there is no doubt. Others are more secretive with this info, so that I really have no idea at all. But then there are others whose rage and dissatisfaction with life is very evident on their faces.
I have to draw the line when I am watching people, because I could very easily begin to judge them. And I know from experience that first impressions can indeed be misleading. For instance, I know full well that some days I tend to frown. I have often been asked what's wrong. In fact, I realize now that I frown when I am deep in thought, even if it is about a good thing. My frown is an automatic stance my face takes when I am focusing on something. But it does not mean I am upset or angry.
Some people smile all the time. And often it is not from joy, but from covering up issues in their lives. I have been guilty of this as well. And that look of rage I sometimes see? Could just be because the person is late for an appointment, or may just be having a rough day.
We must be careful not to allow observing people to become judging them. We never completely know the circumstances in another person's life. It is very easy to misread, or to be misread. God is the only One who knows full well what is going on, and what a person's spiritual life consists of.
Our job is to be sensitive to the people we come in contact with daily. Yes, even those closest to us. So if a kind word or deed is required, or even a quick hug, we are at the ready. We may need to pray with or for someone. We may simply need to listen. But we must never judge.
Matthew 7:1 tells us, 'Judge not, that ye be not judged.' We must not judge others, because God holds us accountable for this. It is not our place, and can cause great harm. We are to show love to others, not judgement. This is the work of our holy God, not His children.
Blessings!

God Made Mondays Too!
It's not that I have a problem with Mondays. It's not that I don't like them. I certainly don't dread them. Mondays can be very good things.
Mondays can signify a new beginning. You show up at work, and look at it with refreshed, more imaginative eyes. Or if you are working at home, you may look at that pile of weekend laundry as something to dispose of quickly, immediately, right now, which is a very good thing indeed!
Mondays can also be getting back together with your co-workers and friends, or with your coffee clatches, or with people at your child's school. Whatever you may do during your week, which you do not do on the weekend, is new again come Monday. New chances, new adventures, new escapes.
OK, there's a brief synopsis of the good things about Mondays. Now let's look at the other side of that coin.
Monday can signal having to go back into the politics, stress, busyness that we appreciate escaping from on the weekend. Again, if you are home, it may mean that you have an empty nest (great reason to get a dog!). Or it may signify meetings, appointments, commitments we make to others to do what needs to be done in any situation, for anybody important to us, or not. We may worry about paying the bills, making dinner, making sure the hubby and the kids have clean clothes for the week. We may also worry about phone calls from bill collectors, or mail that brings bad news. We may just wish it was Friday. The latter part of Friday.
Now, today was not a 'terrible' Monday for me. We were to get an ice storm, again, last night, which would mean fighting the steps just to get out of my house. That didn't happen. And work was great, lots of smiles and a good feeling in the office. My only issue was that there is construction going on one floor below my office, and it sounded like a jackhammer right in my face! A bit of a headache, but I made it through...somehow! Of course, I have to also think about the positive outcome the construction will make for our company. OK, so a jackhammer can be a good thing!
When I reflect on these differing things about Mondays, I also must reflect on the one thing that may make a difference in how we feel about them. Monday is one day, and it is still the day the Lord has made. It may be Wednesday, but it still feels like Monday, good or bad. He has made it all the same. And if it is something the Lord has made, then it just has to be a good thing.
So stop, think about what the day means to you, to your family, your friends. Think about how fortunate we are to have this day. And every day. We get a chance to start over, to be refreshed, to have that second chance we all need every once in a while (some more than most!), and to make a difference for the Kingdom. See Monday through new eyes, eyes that have seen the glory of the LORD!
Blessings!
'This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.'

Will You Speak?
'Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies- make straight Your way before me.' Psalm 5:8
Are you afraid to speak for your beliefs? For your rights? For your freedoms? Do you cower in a corner, hoping no one will notice you, and that no one will ask your opinion? Do you literally shrink from discussions that may bring confrontation, or even persecution?
Most of us feel the same way. I don't like persecution, yet I am the receiver of it often. Confrontation? Yes, when I state an opinion, I am often attacked, verbally. Yet we are responsible for our own conduct, and for contributing to society. If we don't do that, who will?
We think that God will 'take care of it'. So we hush our mouths, hide away, and pray. Now, of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We are called to pray. But there comes a time when the prayer has been said, and it's time for action.
God doesn't tell us that Christians are to be doormats. We are to be of a forgiving nature, loving and kind in difficult circumstances. But we also are to confront evil where we see it. We are to speak up and defend those who are cannot defend themselves, and defend the truth of God's word.
Do not ever feel like your opinions do not count, for they surely do. And, as Americans, or as any citizen anywhere, it is a disservice to our nation to stand idly by and allow evil to continue to flourish. In doing so, we are taking part in that evil.
We now face tough times, in our government, finances, general safety and freedoms. So it is time to speak our thoughts and observations. We can do this in a polite manner, and we should. We can be firm, yet kind. And though we may not be treated in such a way, we can be the example. Let's do it!
Examine the issue, pray and ask for The Holy Spirit to guide you, and for God to protect you, then take the action..speak!
Blessings!

It's 9/11 # 11
'...whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.'
James 4:14-15
Today is a day we do not celebrate, but we do choose to remember. And we remember it with heavy hearts.
Most of us can also remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we heard the awful news. I was at work in a large office with many other women. We had our radios on listening to our favorite stations in our cubicles. And then we all heard the news reports start to filter in. We all started talking and sharing what we had heard. And when we realized what had truly happened, we also shared the horror, and the worry that this attack might not be over. What about our families and friends? Were they okay? Where would the enemies hit us next? Was this 'dooms day'?
While we relive the terror & fear we felt that day, let's also remember that God was in the midst of the evil done to our people, and our nation. Out of this tragedy there also comes goodness. We still hear the stories of heroes. They were everywhere. Many were wearing the uniforms of those we expect to be heroic. But many were just like me...regular, everyday citizens. Many were of faith, but many were not. That day all people came together, doing what they could, to relieve suffering, to give comfort and aid, and yes, even to pray.
Let us all not forget that day. But also let us remember what we have in this country...freedom. It does come at a high cost, but is it not worth it to assure our future generations the same thing? Take time to remember, to meditate, and if you are a person of faith, to pray.
Blessings!

Captive Thoughts
Living Water Daily Devotionals by Lili Richey Willard
about an hour ago via mobile.
'Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.' 2 Corinthians 10:5
If you are a disciple of Jesus, and you live, walk, and breathe, you know how some days this is easy, while others it is nearly impossible. However, being perfect in God's eyes means to keep getting back up, to not give in, to persevere. To strive to think only those thoughts that are pure and lovely, good & uplifting. The world we live in says otherwise. But we know God is the one to please, not man.
So don't give up! Restrain from and run away from those thoughts that are less than holy. Fill your heart, mind, and spirit with God's Word. The struggle becomes winnable with His Word within us.
Blessings!

The Wanderderlust Within
Maybe one of the things I like best is that I don't have to drive too far to find interesting things to do and see. I can experience new places and people, different cultures within mine, different terrains, and different languages even, if I so wish. And all without having to carry my passport with me!
I just love to get in the car, or the plane, and go. Love to come home, but boy do I love to go! I have a yearning deep in my heart to see, do, hear and experience that which I either have never experienced, or that which I have and enjoy so much that I gotta do it again. Seems like I am never satisfied to just stay in one place for very long.
Don't get me wrong. I love my home, and the city and state that I live in. When my hubby and I moved south nearly 15 years ago, I knew quickly that we had landed in the right place. It has brought me much joy. We are living right where we are supposed to be living, by the grace of God, and I cannot imagine living anywhere else...well, at least not right now! But maybe someday...
My grandchildren have alot to do with this travel bug I have within me. When they come to visit, we get in the car and go. We sometime go to the mountains and experience the culture, music, and lovely views. Other times we head to the beach, where we have all developed a love of the ocean, boats, and all the sights and sounds that accompany them.
Most of the time we blend in lots of historical places to see. I love history, and so do my grandkids. For this I am really thankful! There is something about standing in a building that is centuries old that is quite surreal.
But my travels are not limited to America, although there is still so much I wish to see. I have ventured out, with my passport, to Ecuador several years ago, on a mission trip. I loved it! Not only did I participate in ministry there, I was able to bond with several of the teenagers who came to the camp, and am still in touch with them. I have a place in my heart that belongs to Ecuador, the country, the people. It is a beautiful place.
Then, most recently, I was blessed to be able to travel to Germany to see my son and his family prior to his deployment to Afghanistan. I had never flown across the 'pond' before. But I did it, and I had a wonderful time. And when I say I stood in buildings and plaza's that are centuries old, wow! They really are! Older than anything here in America!
But at the end of each excursion is home. And home is where my heart is. The Wanderlust is not going away anytime soon. I am grateful. I learn something valuable with every trip. Mostly, I have learned that people are the same, they have the same emotions and needs as everyone else. They may live in a different country, state, city, but we all share the bond of the human race. And we can all touch one another, and make a difference in lives. I still remember the smile of a couple with a dog on one of the market places in Germany. They posed for a picture for me. We did not speak the same language, yet we communicated. They were kind. I was kind back.
Wanderlust is a great thing. As long as it is not a continual state of mind and body, and we don't lose our need and want for our homes and families, it is a true blessing of God.
Now, where shall I go next....?

God Speaks
Yes, he does. He speaks through His Living Word. He speaks through other people. He even speaks to us in person through the Holy Spirit. And He speaks to us through nature.
It may be a detriment to my aspirations as a writer, but the awesome way God uses nature to touch my heart, and to give me that perfect peace I so crave, is wonderful. Today it is overwhelming!
I have enjoyed the early morning satisfaction of enjoying the nature God created around me many times, in many places. The beach, the mountains, in my home state, even iin Ecuador and recently Germany. But His love and greatness is just as evident to me in my own backyard as anywhere else, and even perhaps more. Because it is mostly in our own home territories where the bulk of our battles rage. And that is where we draw our strength to fight against them...from The Creator Himself.
I am thankful that God chooses to speak to me. And, I am happy He uses so many different ways to do so. He keeps my attentive, on my spiritual toes, if you will! He engages my heart, and He makes my path this day so much easier to navigate.

I Pray for Israel
As a Christian, I am grafted in to the Israel nation. I am happy about that. I love the people, the country, their customs and traditions. I am also so very impressed by those who continue to practice Judaism and Christianity, in that they are so very devout in their beliefs, and in their reverence of the Lord our God.
There are warnings throughout God's Word to do no harm to Israel. This nation is full of His people. That is not exclusionary in terms of His great love for all peoples. But He chose the Israeli nation to be the focus point in the Bible, from beginning to end, centered in that part of the world. So if any one of us does harm to Israel, or their citizens, then we are in direct contradiction to what we believe, and what God has commanded.
Today is just one more example of violence and disrespect towards this dear country. The people do not want violence. They simply want to live and work, and survive, on the land God gave them. They want their children to be safe, and they want to be able to worship freely, without fear of attack.
Three people were killed in this attack today, and others injured. I do not know how serious their injuries are. But I just got the news that Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, has made a declaration that Iran is directly responsible for this tragedy, and that retribution will be substantial.
What does this mean? It means that once again this nation has been pushed to it's limits. There will come a time that something is going to happen. There is no avoidance of it because the 'pushers' hate Israel, and want it literally wiped from the face of the earth. And Israel has the right to fight back.
At one time, America, the United States, was 100% invested in caring for and protection of Israel. We considered them our friends, allies, and a people and country we would fight for. This is no longer true. Most of the American people still feel that way, but our government looks the other way. It is clear that there is no real importance seen in Israel by our leaders. What a sad state of affairs. And how it must hurt the heart of God.
So, I will be crying out, all hours of the day and night, and I invite you to do so too. The greatest thing we can do for Israel is pray, ask God to protect, to lead, to guide. Ask God to show Mr. Netanyhu, who I am glad is in power at this time, great wisdom and to imbue him with power and strength. Pray for the people, the dear people, who only want to live in peace. My heart will not rest in this. I hope yours will not either.
I pray for Israel.

'IT IS WHAT IT IS'
The other day, while speaking with my hubby about an issue, I made the comment, 'It is what it is', and prepared to move on to the next topic we were to address. But before I could open my mouth, Chuck asked me, 'Why do you always say that, and what exactly does it mean?'
I made the usual remarks, like, 'I've been saying that forever', and 'It just means I can't change it', that kind of thing. Chuck seemed satisfied with those answers, and we moved on with taking care of business.
But for some reason, that small exchange stayed with me. I guess you could say my curiosity was piqued, goading me into self-examination. Why DO I say that sentence, and why so often?
All I can really say about that is this: IT IS WHAT IT IS. Sorry, but that is the truth. Consider one of God's most powerful names...I AM. Very short, but direct, and powerful. It is in and of itself truth. Honest, pure, factual, and totally captivating.
I believe, after considering why I feel so connected to this small collection of words, that the phrase eliminates the possibility that I myself am able to change some of the things in my life, and in the lives of others, things that we may wish were non-existant. Yet sometimes, when we examine them at the time, or even after the time has passed, we see that those things came into our lives with purpose, and when all is said and done, they were of benefit to us.
It is much like that famous poem, The Serenity Prayer. As we grow older, and experience life, we learn to change the things we can, accept what we can't, and know the difference between the two. It's called wisdom. And it is from God.
Now I believe I recognize that the most probable reason that 'IT IS WHAT IT IS' is so important to me, is because God is the answer to everything. The words remind me that everything, including me, is in His hands. And nothing touches us that has not gone through those very same hands. I am to trust Him wholly, completely, without question, without rationalization, without searching for a reason as to why I should. He is 'I AM', so it follows that 'IT IS WHAT IT IS'.
Of course we should look at things in life with open eyes, and change the things we can. But sometimes we waste alot of time, fruitlessly, on things that in the long run are simply not worth the effort. When we trust God to take care of it, then we can focus our attention and energy on those things most important in our lives, and which will have an eternal impact on the Kingdom.
Use wisdom, knowledge, and prayer to achieve worthwhile change. For all else, remember that it truly is what it is.
Blessings!

STAYING FREE - THANK YOU!
We need not worry about being censored when we speak of political issues, of government policies, good or bad, or of our elected leaders. We do not fear our fellow Americans, and we move about in our society, rich, poor, or in-between, with a measure of security and acceptance.
Why is this true, even though our forces are engaged in two wars, our economy is losing ground every day in some sector, and our unemployment is at record highs? Why, when we see and hear of turmoil and strife that affects every nook and cranny of our complicated social structure?
It's because we stay free. It is because we are America. It is because there is a back bone, a remnant, if you will, of those of us who have not given up, who have not caved in, who refuse to buckle under the pressure to become a socialist nation. It is because we still have our freedom, and so many of us will stand up for it, no matter the cost. It is because despite the fact that our nation, in large part, has turned away from God, there are many who worship and adore Him, pray to Him, and ask continually for protection for our people, and our land.
When prayer is offered up to the Heavens with pure hearts, motives, and love, God always hears. When we, who are sinners saved by grace, turn to Him, and plead for our nation, He keeps His Word to us. As long as there are those of us who will continue to do as He has commanded we do, we will never lose our freedom. Because freedom, true freedom, is a gift that only comes through knowing Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Today, give thanks for staying free, to God , and to our military, wherever they are, and whatever they do, because tney are God's warriors. They are willing each and every day to put their own lives on the line for you and for me. They know the price they may have to pay, but they are willing. Praise them, hug and kiss them, but make sure you are truly thankful for them. And tell them, please. As the mom of two young men in our U.S. Army, and friends with those whose children have paid that very high price, I cannot tell you how proud my heart is of them, and of their families. We have been truly blessed in tnis nation to have a totally volunteer military system, made up of those who wish to serve their nation, their countrymen, and anyone from other places who call tnis great place home.
This is MEMORIAL DAY! Thank you, current military, veterans, past and present ! And thank you, God, for making sure we STAY FREE!
Blessings!

Review: Christian Film 'Inner Joy of a Broken Heart'
Young Maurice faces a crisis of belief as he struggles with his personal thorn, being gay. His dilemma stems from knowing in his own heart that, although society has embraced homosexuality, making it acceptable in all venues, what God says in His Word is true, despite man's attempt to sugar coat it. He recognizes that culture has introduced the thought that we can change what Jesus has taught about homosexuality to match the lifestyle we want to experience. He also points out that many of today's churches believe the same. And his heartbreak comes from the lack of strength in Christians, of not standing up for what is right and good, but in allowing sin to override what God has intended.
Maurice confides in Natasha, a good friend who has feelings for him, and who does not understand why he keeps himself closed off in many ways. But Maurice eventually confides in her, revealing his struggle, and the fact that he carries guilt for the death of the young man he was in love with. This young man, Callum, did not understand or accept Maurice's aversion to following through with his sexual feelings for him, and in retaliation slept with another. Maurice just happened to walk in on the scene, witnessing what to him was an evil act, sex outside of marriage.
Callum goes to Maurice, and they have an altercation, at which point Maurice strikes Callum on the face. Callum believes that homosexuality is ok, that churches embrace it, so why shouldn't they? Maurice again takes a stand, pointing out that this is not what God wants for men and women, and that just because he may want to enjoy their relationship does not mean he can, as a Christian. And that he won't compromise.
Callum, in his desperation, takes his life right there in front of Maurice, which brings not only more heartbreak, but adds to his struggles to do and feel what is right.
This film is refreshing in the way it handles the issue of being gay and also being a Christian. The acceptance of being gay does not override the fact and the belief that those who are experiencing this situation need to identify first with Christ, and then stand on the Word of God in discovering ways to live with it.
Maurice reveals to Natasha that he has a plan, for helping others like him, and he may need to leave home to pursue that plan. While she does not want him to go, she supports him in his efforts.
The backbone of this film is not just about homosexuality...it is about standing on God's Word, believing it and putting it before our own personal wants and desires. To do the right thing no matter how difficult it may be, and to allow God to use us for His purposes, however He chooses to use us.
This film has a very nice flow, moving along quickly, and captures youth in all their excitement and zest for life and relationships. The characters are like people we all know and love, and the storyline is clear and concise, expressive and gripping. The emotions it stirs are varied, and once you begin watching, you will definitely watch all the way through. I believe it also displays a very different way of viewing those who are gay. Not all of them are pleased to be gay, and not all of them wish to live like that. This film explores the possibilities of using this 'difference' for the good of the Kingdom.
I highly recommend 'Inner Joy of a Broken Heart' for believers, and non-believers alike, who may have these struggles, or wish to be of help to those who do. This film, I believe, is of value to all Christians, and helps to reinforce 'the right thing to do'.

It's Been A Long Time
But the true matter of the situation is that I have been having difficulty forcing myself to sit down at my computer and simply write. I have lots of ides, topics, scriptures, tons of material to write about. But something has been quelling my creativity, my WANT TO. I have prayed about it, I have outright asked God 'Why?', I have talked to people, I have changed the look of my writing area, etc., etc., etc. And I have realized it's not that I don't want to, I just can't.
If you've ever experienced not being able to enjoy doing what you love to do, then you can understand my frustration. There are several things I can think of off the top of my head that if I could no longer do them, I would eventually dry up and fade away. Well, maybe not quite that drastic of a reaction! But still, if I could not drive and travel anymore, my independence would be threatened. I would not see the places I want to see, and travel with my family and friends, or even get myself back and forth to church and to work, if I could no longer drive.
I have developed a lower back problem in the past year, and was concerned the medical professionals would tell me to stop horseback riding. This has been a joy to me all of my life. Fortunately, with a period of physical therapy, excellent advice, and exercises to sustain my 'base', I am able to continue riding.
I love to read. If my eyes became terribly bad, or if I went blind, I would no longer know the joy of losing myself in adventure, romance, and mostly, the Word of God.
I say these things because I know that if you can relate to my feelings, you will understand as well. I love to write. My goal is to be a successful, published writer, of God and His Word, for the rest of my life on earth. I have had a small measure of success, but it is like anything else, you must put forth the effort, time, and dedication in order to achieve the success you wish. God called me to this, and I have answered. But for whatever reason, and only He knows, I am having trouble.
As I write this, now, my fingers are literally flying over the keys. I am not having any block, any halting, any wondering what to say. Once again, God proves Himself most able, because He is guiding this post. He is telling me how to tell you what has happened to me. He is also telling me to make sure I give Him glory for how He is restoring me, having taught me the most valuable lesson of waiting on Him, for His timing, and for His purposes, and for the season in which I am to do His will.
Does this mean I will begin writing all the time as I was just a few short months ago? Of course not. But it does mean that God has once again provided the tools and the abilities only He can give, and I have a green light to proceed. I must make sure I am prayed up, filled up on His Word, and ready to do as He sees fit with this gift He has blessed me with. I must constantly examine my spirit-woman, my life, my walk with the Lord, to be sure I am in the center of His will, not my own. I must remember my first love, the love I have for my Saviour.
If you are going through something like this, take heart. Remember to tell Him how you are feeling, examine your life, pray, read and ask for help from God. Only He can release you from your 'long time', and only He can set you free to once again do that thing that you love, the thing He has called you to do for His Kingdom.
And I do, I do, I do, give Him the glory, every bit of it, for what He has done, and what He is going to do, in my life.
Blessings!

Turkey Day Again!
Do you know why it's okay? Because I can! Yes, I have the freedom, the ability, the ways, and the means to do all of these things. That is why I can truly say I am thankful today. Because there have been times in my past when I literally could not do these things.
I have experienced poverty in my adult life. I have lived without food, without my own home to clean, without a kitchen or food to cook. I have done without soap and water, and even without utilities. Yes. Here. In this great country I so love.
But...I also had the opportunity to get back up, move forward, and change my circumstances. This great country of ours has families of grit, courage, and stone-like strength and determination. We can literally face anything, yet survive and enjoy life as God intended us to. Our military is always at the ready to defend our land, and our freedoms. I had resources in my times of need, which are not available in many other countries.
In short, God blessed me, and my family. And while we often struggle in many areas, there is still that innate sense of wellbeing. I have visited a much poorer nation. I have seen poverty without hope. I have seen the sad eyes of hungry childen. And I have seen the grace of God intervene in their lives.
Yes, I have much for which to be thankful. I have family, friends, a nice home, food on my table, church, work, and play. More than that, I have a God who loves me, who is my provider, my hope, my peace, my Saviour. I can and will give thanks to Him today, and everyday. You can too.
Happy Thanksgiving, and blessings!
